Join me for a one-day creative workshop exploring the human form through movement, drawing and sculpture, inspired by the expressive working methods of Auguste Rodin.
Many of us think of drawing as a way of recording what we see externally. Rodin approached it differently. He was interested in capturing movement, energy and something of the essence and spirit of the figure. His drawings became the starting point for paintings, cut-outs and sculpture.
We will take a similar journey during the day.
Working with a life model, we’ll begin with quick, expressive drawing exercises designed to loosen you up and encourage you to really look, trust your hand and respond to movement rather than worry about getting everything “right”.
From there, we’ll experiment with watercolour, develop some of our drawings into expressive cut-outs and then move into small clay sculptures.
The idea is not to produce one perfect drawing. It’s about seeing what happens when you allow the energy to flow naturally from one form into another.
You might discover something in a line, a shape or a movement that you hadn’t noticed before. You can then take that further, change it, exaggerate it or translate it into another material or format.
At the heart of my Awakening Creativity approach is a guided, inspirational process that frees up your curiosity and playfulness through experimentation, helping you discover a more intuitive and authentic way of seeing, making and being.
Whether you’re completely new to drawing or an experienced artist, you’ll leave with fresh inspiration, greater freedom, new ways of seeing and a deeper trust in your own creative process.

About Lorna Carmen McNeill
Lorna Carmen McNeill is a mixed media and light artist, teacher and creative process facilitator. She studied Fine Art at Camberwell School of Art, Goldsmiths and The Art Academy, and has taught across higher and further education, the NHS, charitable organisations, community settings and corporate environments.
Her work is rooted in the understanding that creativity is far more than artistic skill—it is a way of being, perceiving and engaging with the world. Through her Awakening Creativity approach, Lorna creates supportive and inspiring environments where participants develop artistic confidence, technical skills and a deeper connection with their own innate creativity. As confidence grows, participants discover their own unique way of seeing, responding and making, allowing an authentic visual language to emerge naturally.
