Part of the Touched by an Angel Creative Workshop Series

A Half-Day Mixed Media Workshop

Date: Friday 4 December (or insert final date)
Time: 10.00 am – 1.30 pm
Venue: Quaker Meeting House, Winchester
Cost: £70

Create your own unique angel using assemblage, symbolism and mixed media.

As winter approaches, join us for a joyful morning celebrating light, hope and imagination through creativity.

Inspired by artists such as Andrew Logan, icon traditions and contemporary assemblage, we’ll explore how everyday objects can be transformed into beautiful and meaningful works of art.

Working with beads, buttons, mirrors, jewellery fragments, wire, metal leaf and found objects, you’ll create your own sparkling angel as a relief artwork, hanging decoration or brooch.

Whether your angel represents hope, protection, remembrance, gratitude, joy, someone special in your life, or simply the delight of making something beautiful, you’ll be encouraged to interpret the theme in your own personal way.

What you’ll explore

  • Assemblage as a creative art form.
  • Symbolism, colour, sparkle and light in mixed media.
  • Creative ways of combining found objects into harmonious compositions.
  • Texture, layering, embellishment and simple relief techniques.
  • Personal symbolism and meaningful visual storytelling.

How we’ll work

Throughout the workshop you will:

  • Explore examples of contemporary assemblage and symbolic mixed-media art.
  • Experiment with a rich variety of decorative and found materials.
  • Learn simple techniques for constructing layered relief artworks.
  • Develop your own unique angel with individual guidance throughout.
  • Share ideas within a relaxed, welcoming and supportive creative atmosphere.

Outcome

By the end of the workshop you will have created a unique mixed-media angel to display, wear or give as a meaningful gift, together with new ideas for working creatively with assemblage, symbolism and found objects.

You’re also invited to bring

  • Lace or ribbon.

“I just wanted to say how supportive and freeing I found your workshop. I loved the techniques and your way of teaching—so powerful. You grounded our practice in spirituality and art history, which I found fascinating. You are a great teacher and the workshops are all art teaching should be.”
